Our friend David Burruss, Andrew and I started out early on 8/11 for a ten mile float down an upper portion of the Potomac River (near Orleans, MD) . . . we had a perfect day, with lots of wildlife and the river all to ourselves.
The pictures don't do it justice.
Our quarry was smallmouth bass, and between the three of us we got somewhere between 50-60 fish in the canoes (and lost more than that) - the fight on a native smallmouth is unbelievable! We also had a fair number of giant bluegill and a couple of smaller carp.
We're planning to do it again next year (early August), so maybe we can get a larger group.
