I was in NJ over the weekend doing some racing in Millville. I only had races on Saturday so I brought my kayak and went out Sunday morning. I launched from the beach there, hardly any surf. Even once the ENE winds picked up the bay was still really flat. The river/creek right there was really ripping. There is a 7ft tide in this area.
It didn't take long to figure out that I hadn't recharged my trolling motor battery. Top speed was lacking and the Lowrance would barely function eventually. Working my way over to another creek I hooked up with something I never got a look at. Could've been anything.
I saw plenty of fish breaking the surface, just not biting. Drifting back down the creek I finally hooked up. It was my first saltwater perch and my largest ever. It was about 11.5" and dinner last night.
Lots of people were checking out my kayak when I landed on the beach when I was done.
