I went fishing on wednesday for only about 1 hours (my phone stopped working so I left to figure out how to get a new one.) I did manage to catch this one in 1 foot of water and about 6 feet from my kayak. I had already made 3 identical cast and got nothing but this fish came from know where. I had just gone to dicks in wood bridge the day before (30 min drive) to buy some top water frogs and that is what I caught this guy one. The lurer was so far down its throat I did not think I was going to be able to get it back lol. All in all it was fun and I thought I would share this. The snakehead was 6 lbs and 27"

Nice report!!
Sadly, i have yet to catch a snakehead. I haven't targeted them much but it is sad considering I'm in alexandria as well...
great to see another member from my area!

I almost got another one this past Sunday. I was all over my bait but never actually got it.

Holey, I do kayak fish. Not as much as I used to but I try and get out more. I lost one of my local fishing buddies (he decided fish were the wrong tail to chase)
I fish for bass mostly but I don't discriminate.
Ernie, haha no. none in the tanks. It surprises a lot of people. I've hooked up with a few. never landed.

I'm dying to get a snakehead under my belt. My boat is at Columbia Island Marina and I've heard they are in the Lagoon there. I'm going to start looking harder...

Nice SH! Best tasting fish in the area hands down!
I've heard that the river near Reagan airport produces well. Where is the most convenient launch?

I got a bigger one the other day. It was 7.5 lbs and 29.5". I launched near roaches run.

That's a skinny one....should have been over 10lbs! Well done.....has Thai been doing some teaching?

I fished in that Roaches Run basin yesterday too, early morning until about 10am. I worked almost the entire perimeter. First time checking it out. One of many places I've been meaning to check out at least once. I hooked up with several LMB with a horny toad, hoping to catch a snakehead. Largest was 16". Never saw any snakeheads. Also caught my first ever gar. 30" Caught on a bitsy minnow crankbait by the outflow under the GW Pkwy.
After that I went down to Jones point until noon. Caught two blue cats, one around 22-24", the other the smallest I've ever caught, maybe 12". It was really choppy out there when not behind the bridge walls.

It was super fat. I think my boga might be off.

Very fat indeed!! Nice!
@T, very cool catching the gar. Do they normally hit lures? How was the fight?

They'll hit fish-like baits, but the bony mouths are hard to hook up with most of the time. It didn't fight as hard a cat fish.

Nice fish. Gar are fun to catch but really hard to hook.
