While I was riding my bike today, I saw this Brit by the name of Matt. He was fishing for monster yellow perch.
He really was....on WFN.
I was on my inside bike and happened to catch "24 Hour Rod Race" while riding. I couldn't hear him very well with the bike noise so I don't know where he was except it was across the big pond..
He was catching 2.5-4 lb YPs off the bank....they were brutes!
I also liked the way he weighed them. He used a wet plastic grocery bag and never had to stick the YPs with the weighing hook.

I'm still very depressed about the Occoquan YP being raped 3-4 years ago to now have no YP there now.

D***. A 4#-er would break our state record by ~ a pound.

Yeah those European perch get ginormous, I think they're a separate subspecies from our yellows. I would love to fish for them.
I caught some of ours at Lake Brittle on Saturday. They were, um, slightly under 4lbs

Theirs are darker and have bright orange fins.
Nice that you got some perchies.....

We get them in Oz too in the southern part of the country but we call them Redfin. They were introduced with the English settlers and have done a fair bit of damage to the native species. Good eats though.
Here is a good sized one (not my photo)
