THE CICADAS ARE COMING!

Is this going to improve the fishing?  Hurt it because they are filling up on them?  Has anyone tried to use them as bait?

Re: THE CICADAS ARE COMING!

My friend mentioned to me the last time the cicadas came out, it was a bonanza on the rivers. I imagine it'll be a feeding frenzy.

As far as bait, Megabass makes a cicada lure called the siglett.

Re: THE CICADAS ARE COMING!

I personally watched that Siglett work on UP smallies in the past. I don't remember if that was the last time we had cicadas or not. Andrew can chime in but I believe he did buy the lure because of the cicadas.

Re: THE CICADAS ARE COMING!

lol I actually got it as a gift from a friend who was in Japan for the summer. It worked well before the cicadas came. I don't remember if I was able to get out during the last hatching though.  I LOVE THAT LURE THOUGH! On the upper potomac it did so well. The action is similar to a jitterbug but with a light, sharp rattle.

I actually thought the fishing was slow during the last hatch because there was so much for the fish to eat but maybe I'm remembering wrong.
