So as I said in a previous thread, Ryan Smith was going to be painting some of my 3" pikes. He has an incredible eye for painting, and has completely blown me away with these. Like my ego has taken a nose dive at mach 5. If I wasn't so excited to get one of these myself, I might be looking for the nearest bridge.
They will be going up for sale in his store, www.rmtackle.com , most likely on Wednesday (7/11) He has a newsletter that he puts out weekly, or if there is an update to his store. You can get advance notice to their availability, so I would recommend signing up.
In other cool news, Ryan will be unleashing his own swimmer that is intended for freshwater use in the next few weeks. So keep an eye out for those. But don't overlook his 1 oz. peanut. Its caught plenty of largemouth already.

So I earlier posted about Ryan Smith coming out with some freshwater lures. Well they are now available. He did a stellar job painting my pikes (there are still a couple left in case you missed out on them), and did an outstanding job with his. That perch. OH MY!
1/2 oz. swimmers

He also painted some of his 1 oz peanuts in some freshwater colors and hook configuration. I have been a big fan of his 1 oz peanut and always thought it would cross over to large mouth bass really well.

I know these aren't my lures, but I think they are cool as can be and thought you guys might find them interesting.

Ryan is a talented plug builder, no doubt.
I'll bet you can throw that peanut a mile. any idea how long it is?

I can't wait for mine to arrive in the mail. If its as awesome as I anticipate, I will be getting more. These guys are clearly more than luremakers...modern day artisans!

Mine arrived earlier this week. Sweet! Here are a couple; "before" pics. Gonna hit Pohick with the kayak tomorrow evening. Hopefully a bunch of "after" pics coming!
Agree with basscrushers comment about modern day artisans. Awesome job, Charlie M! Didn't realize you were a Jersey guy until I noticed the return address on the envelope. That explains how you know the Bob Hahn plugs! I still have a bunch in the original packaging!

I got mine on Tuesday. it looks AMAZING!!! I'll post pics soon. So far I have only made a few casts with it...the algae/grass mats in my neighborhood ponds is too thick for anything other than Texas-rigged worms. I was able to get the lure in a few openings, and it swims very seductively. I'm hoping to get it out next week to my favorite local "open-water" lake and test it out. This lake has muskies as well, so who knows what may happen...

Glad you guys like them. I think you and your fish will be quite happy. Well maybe not your fish if they don't wise up.
So I finally finished a little write up on how to finely tune them to get them to swim exactly like you want. I hope its helpful.

Perfect. Well done Choop. My preference is to tune them to swim just under the surface but pushing water up from the head. Fished that way at night, my experience is that the fish almost always have the whole lure in their mouth.

Hey guys. Hope you guys are finding fish in between the weeds. Millfoil is insane this year in NJ! But slowly putting some fish in the boat.
So I got this new lure that will be available. Hopefully this week. Thought some of you might be interested in seeing what I have been up to. Its a spook style lure called "lil Barky". I'll let you know when rmtackle.com puts them up for sale. I shipped them out to them today.
I also did a brief write-up about it on my website. http://www.choopylures.com/2012/08/intr … barky.html
I am scheduled to go fish some VA water in early September. I'll see if there is some room in the schedule w/ Mr. Naj to grab some drinks or pizza with you fine folks.

Come on down Charlie!!
I have used the yellow choopy a few times but no luck so far on my lake. But.....I haven't caught a fish in my last 3 tries. I must admit that I only fish for 30-45 minutes, always in the same spot.

This is the point where someone should tell Ernie to take 10 steps to the left and cast again

Ha! I should!
I take walks of 3-5 miles around the lakes for exercise but I can't move 10 steps to fish...pretty pathetic. The algae does prevent me from fishing behind my house though, that's my excuse.

I finished up a video of lil Barky and how he walks.
