Upper James River Report - 08/12/12

Negotiated with the wife, that is code for annoying her, to escape for a couple of hours. Loaded up the 'yak and headed to the river. I fished from about 130-300 in the heat of the day. I didn't paddle much as there are some nice bridge pilings with accumulated wood structure near the launch. I fished each one and also explored each one to see their different characteristics. After all was said and done, I nabbed two smallies, a 12in and a 14.5in from the same piling in about the same location. The location was shady, with wood, and had good current. I caught them about 45min apart with the lesson being that the location reloads in short order.

If it were easy, they'd call it catching!
