New forum member here; I've been lurking for weeks reading the past reports and photos you guys have posted. I'll be moving to Ashburn Village in a couple weeks. I intend to start out fresh water fishing just in the lakes & ponds around the area. I haven't fished for years, but am interested in taking it back up. The Virginia " Department of Game and Inland Fisheries" has not yet responded to my inquiry, so perhaps you guys may be able to help me out.
If I just want to start off with a "County/City" license, will this be sufficient for fishing in the Ashburn Village lakes, or do I need to buy the full resident freshwater fishing?
County/City Resident Freshwater Fishing
Requirements:
Residents of county or city ages 16 to 64
Definition:
To freshwater fish in county or city of residence, not valid in designated stocked waters

I always get a Full Resident VA license just in case I want to fish somewhere else in VA....

Thanks for the quick response! It's true that I wouldn't be able to fish elsewhere with colleagues and such. A point to consider, indeed. I did hear back from the department; they said the City/County license is sufficient for my initial request.
Thanks!

First, welcome aboard.
Another point to consider ...
Is the county licence year by year or good for a year after the date of purchase?
The full VA licence is good for a year after the date of purchase.
