Went down to Alder to try for crappie today. Only one small crappie to show for my efforts. However, as I walked the shoreline I found 2 schools of small goldfish in the shallows.............you could see them a long way off...
and.......
I'm surprized that a bass or two hadn't wiped them out already.

those look like rosie reds. pretty much albino fat head minnows. you can find them at petsmart .

Andrew - We did stock 50 lbs of fathead minnows in there last year. Good chance that they came from that?
Also put 50 lbs in Beech, 50 lbs in Cedar, and 200 lbs in Pavilion.

We put Rosie Reds in Cedar many moons ago...they love mosquito larvae.

And..............we are putting 50 lbs each in Alder, Beech, and Cedar next month (May); plus 150 lbs in Pavilion too .

Could those be Koi? I've seen large Koi in several of the Ashburn ponds, and also in the pond near the library.
