I am down in Jax for the Gator Bowl (Go Gators!) staying with friends whose house backs up to a pond. With a KVD chartreuse and blackback square bill, I landed 9 in 30 minutes with the biggest going 1.5lbs.
It is a fairly small pond, so figuring they grew accustomed to the lure, I switched to a drop shot and landed another half dozen the next day.
However, the best part of this trip has been introducing my friend's 3 yr old to fishing and going with his dad to Dick's to get him a nice beginner outfit. Low and behold the first night with a bit of Zoom trick worm hooked wacky style, he got his first four bass!
Great friends, great fishing, now all I need is a great bowl game!

Now THAT is an outstanding vacation!! The look on a 3 yr old's face catching their first fish is priceless.

A Gators win...first fish for a 3yr old who proceeded to ask if we'd be fishing every day...first fish for me in 2012 on a drop shot...75 degree weather....why did I come back to Richmond to 27 degree weather?!?!?!
