Weakfish, grey seatrout, squeateague are all names of the same fish. The weakfish name is a result of their soft mouths. Squeateague is their Native American name. Little ones are spike trout no doubt due to their fang like front teeth. Really big ones of 8# or more are called tiderunners. The trout in Capt Mike's picture was caught May 6, at night in NY from the beach on Raritan Bay. At 19 lbs 12 oz, if verified by IGFA, it will beat the old mark held by two fishermen of 19-2.

I have never caught a weakfish, grey seatrout, squeateague or a tiderunner. I hear that they sometimes catch 'em in the bay.

Ernie:
We were catching these under the bridge just South of Capt. Mike's house on the Piankatank River year before last. You went home early last year, but we went out again and didn't find them.
They are normally thick this time of year in Cornfield Harbor at Point Lookout and at Point No Point just out from St. Jerome's Creek.
