Bonus striper report, CT, 4-25-11

I had a business trip to CT on Monday and Tuesday....visited 3 cities for some compliance reviews with the agency that regulates the company I work for. Boring but necessary.

It's good to have friends!!

I have known Steve Barnes for 20+ years...we have worked on may projects together. He loves to fish and he has friends (Brian and Jay) that are totally out of control with regards to their fishing addiction. All of us work for the same company in different locations.

When I left Dulles on Monday morning the weather report was not looking favorable for an afternoon fishing trip. Plus, all the stars would need to align to be able to get out foe a few ours after work. My first meeting was 60 miles from the Housatonic River in Shelton.

My hop was that the meting would end at 3:30 or 4 PM so I could drive the hour necessary to get to the boat (a 17' Angler CC). But no, the folks involved in the meeting wanted to yap and the meeting ended at 5 PM. I thought fishing was done so i called Steve. But he said to haul buns down the highway as they were not yet to the boat and the weather was perfect.

I met them at 6 PM at some random dock and I jumped aboard.

Bonus!

And we have yet to cast a lure yet....the tide was not yet moving, Brian and Jay were concerned as the sun was starting to drop (and it got chilly really quick)! We hit a few spots and really didn't get any hits so we decided to go down river to the Rt. 95 bridge area, a flat right across an old power plant....urban fishing at its best.

Jay hooked up first and declared, "OK, I put you on 'em, they are here so get to work".

Brian and I then hooked up......

....and the 3 of us continued to "whack 'em"!

For some reason (too heavy of a rod), Steve was struggling to catch one but after an equipment change, he scored!

I suspect we boated 30-35 stripers to 23" in a 60 minute period.

We made the 12 mile run back to the ramp with the aid of a spotlight and we were back on land by 9:30......what a way to spend an evening while on business travel!

Glad you got some striper fishing in.  We need the river here to come back down so we'll have a shot at them before they all leave.

This weekend is shot....I canceled for tomorrow.

I'll be gone all next week and fishing a tourney on the 14th so Fletcher's 2011 will be ZERO for me.
