Gang,
I just spent an hour on this fine Saturday morning practicing my casting at Cedar and Beech . . . that is to say, the fish are very hard to find. Only four strikes and one dink landed. It's hard to figure what happened to the ABC lakes this year . . . over fished, fish removed, too much algae, etc. I'll leave that to John Odenkirk to solve.
So what's my point? Presuming that one of your objectives for the upcoming tournament is to promote fishing with the pre-HS youth, then I propose that you adjust your rules to allow anyone 12 or under to use live bait. If it's this hard for us seasoned fishermen to catch fish in these lakes using artifical, the last thing you want to do is discourage the youth with a lack of fish caught.
I hope that you will give this consideration. Using nightcrawlers or shiners will give the kids a chance to catch blue gill and perhaps a bass or two. If I recall properly, I think the catfish caught in the spring tournament was hooked using hotdogs. I've got two fathers with children under the age of 10 who are thinking of coming, and I'd like to give them a chance for a positive experience.
I'll watch the Forum to see if you decide to adjust this rule.
Thanks,
Tom

I think today is bad in general for fishing. I was at Riverbend and didn't catch anything. I didn't even see any fish other than some minnows. I hope things are better next weekend.

Full moon today....stay home and watch football or rearrange the fishing tackle in the garage.
Next weekend will be just fine! The Major is from 7-9 Am.....go get 'em!

Good idea....I think the president is consulting his colleagues for a decision.

We have decided to let the Pre-HS youth division use live worms.
Also, another note I forgot to mention before: The tournament waters will be off-limits starting this Wednesday(10/27/10) to anyone who plans on fishing the tournament, failure to comply with this rule will result is disqualification.
