Ellen had been in Afghanistan and was on her way home when she suffered a stroke.
According to Curly, "the doctors think they got to her quickly enough. She is in Dubai, UAE in the ICU at an American hospital. The DEA family and resources are doing everything possible to get her home safely, once she is stable enough. Her symptoms are a splitting headache and difficulty expressing herself.............no paralysis."
Luckily, she is not alone as she has several DEA team members and the Country Attache' with her at the hospital.
I have talked to Curly and he is holding up well.....he may go over the big pond to see her once he gets more news.
If you are so inclined, please pray for the Casale family. His two daughters (Sarah and Mary Alice) are having a hard time as you can imagine.
I will keep everyone posted on the Forum.

Just got this from Curly!
"I'm back. I spent 2 1/2 days with Ellen and she is improving with each day. There will be a DEA person that she knows with her at all times until she is well enough to travel home. I will go back with another team member to bring her home (hopefully in the next 10-14 days) when the Drs feel if is safe to do so. The prognosis is good, but it will take some time for her speech to fully recover. DEA is all over this and focusing its international and domestic resources towards her care, safe return, and recovery. We are so fortunate to work for such a supportive and caring agency."

Was just thinking about this this morning and glad to hear she's in good hands and making progress on her recovery! It takes a tough woman to marry a guy who fishes/hunts in the nastiest weather like Curly does.

Just got word from Curly and it looks like they are going to be in Dubai for at least 2 more weeks.
"Ellen is still improving......the doctors do not want to take any chances with changes in airplane cabin pressure over 14+ hrs in the air that could cause more bleeding in the brain due to those pressure changes. Looks like we will be here a while."
May God continue to bless the family and keep His hand on Ellen.

It's now been one year since Ellen's stroke. I know I had originally posted some thank you's and updates in this thread, but they were nuked back in March. A year later, we still have meds to take, MRIs, and Dr appts.......but the good news is that Ellen is 99+% back to her old self. Thanks for the prayers and thoughts fellas.............they worked .
