I suspect this fella might get into some trouble iif he sells that meat.....

lol, that is Thai's friend! Thai caught one of the fish that he is talking about! When we fish at one of Thai's snakehead spots we fish from a private ramp across the street from that guy's house.
I've been wondering about the legality of selling the meat. It is illegal to sell fish that are caught from freshwater BUT this is an invasive species. If the goal of the mandatory kill rule is to try to eliminate the species or prevent it from spreading then why not encourage people to fish for them by allowing them to be sold? It seems like a waste to have mandatory kills of a fish that tastes so good and is being caught so frequently.

They sell crappie all the time at the fish market.. I think the line is drawn for freshwater lakes and not tidal water.

Thai...........It is ILLEGAL to sell any fish recreationally caught, regardless if it is an invasive species.
You can give it away all day long, but not SELL it.
See if you can get him to remove the CL post before DNR tries to buy it from him and give him a ticket/summons.

Such a waste. The mandatory kill policy is a JOKE. Allowing people to sell them would at least encourage more people to go after them but I doubt even that would be able to stop them from spreading. I think it's about time to just add them to the game fish list.

Thai, John Odenkirk responded to my email. Curly is right. It's stupid, but that's the legality of it right now.
