Curly and I met up at 415 this morning to try and land some lunker rockfish on the Potomac. We were very concerned with the windy conditions, but we took the risk and went out to the river, launched, and made it to our spot with no ill effects. We got the lines out using cut mullet and cut herring. We also tried to land some fresh herring to use as live bait to further entice the rockfish.
It didn't take long for us to hook up and we had active rods all morning until we left around 1100. Unfortunately, the hookups delivered nary a rockfish, but instead a healthy combo of blue and channel catfish. We landed 10 cats with the biggest about 10 lbs. We also landed two herring and one white perch. An active day on a windy morning and we'll be back out tomorrow. No pictures because we didn't catch what we were after.
