Had lines in the water by 6am. Was using frozen herring from last year while we tried to jig up some fresh herring. Two hrs later, we had caught nothing (bait or real fish) and saw 3 stripers (~6-20+ lbs) landed by 2 nearby boats (using fresh herring). Went up to Fletcher's and bought $10 worth of fresh herring. Continued fishing from 8:30-10 am and only managed 3 turd rollers up to about 6 lbs. The bite definately shut down by 8:30. We did manage 2 herring in the last hour. "Bait has to be fresh" was the word. Wind picked up at 10 am and we headed home. Will try again tomorrow morning.

Looking forward to tomorrow - maybe the cold weather will keep the others off the water and we can have it all to ourselves! haha

The fly guys were complaining that the herring were nipping at their shad flies....a nuisance! Just reporting what they were reporting....
