I have not been able to do a lot of looking but I have been doing a lot of calling and emailing as I look for the next ride. I decide to go back in time when I found the Hydra Sport. Here are the links:

Currently, I am looking at a Scout 175, a Carolina Skiff 198, a 218 and the boat pictured above.
Now....here is the most interesting part. As you read, I drove almost 5 hours to get my Hydra Sport which was docked in St. Marys WV, right on the Ohio River.
If I get this boat, I will make the same drive. This boat is owned by Jim Janes who was the owner of the Hydra Sport. You can't write that in a script. It could be Divine Intervention or pure coincidence (yeah, right) but Jim has his new boat for sale due to the fact that he moved and cannot fit the boat in the new garage. Thus, he will be getting another boat. Carl was the same way. If he could not get the boat in the garage, he was not having it.
So, tomorrow morning, I have to drive about an hour and I will be thinking about what to do.........

301 stripers would probably just jump in that boat... I was thinking about a topwater spot I know down there this morning... I can't wait for this season to start!

After a strong couple of days this thread has dried up. Did I miss the good reason or is it still in the running?

It is still up and running......had a day full of conference calls and took them in my car office while I drove to Delaware and back. I am tired, dazed and confused.
Here is the line up (no particular order):
'09 Tracker Targa 17 w/115 Merc. Opti
'08 Mako 171 w/90 Merc.
'07 CS 178 w/ 90 Merc.
'00 Scout 175 w/ 115 eTec
'07 CS 218 w/ 115 Suzuki
There are a few others in the mix but these are the choices for now......

sounds like you are looking for a reason to walk away from it. If you like it buy it . If it becomes a problem or you just can't use it sell it off . From the photos it looks a little to clean , that alone would make me walk .

No worries Joe! The gentleman that owns this boat keeps his boats looking showroom condition. I know this beacuse I bought my '00 Hydra Sport 212 from him back in '07.

I believe that I am down to 2 boats, the '09 Tracker Targa 17 w/115 Merc. Opti (pictured above) and the '07 CS 218 w/ 115 Suzuki (pictures below).
This one is VERY nice and could slip back in - -'08 Mako 171 w/90 Merc.
This one is out- - '07 CS 178 w/ 90 Merc.
This one is really nice but I just sold a '00 and don't want one that old- - '00 Scout 175 w/ 115 eTec
I appreciate all the comments because they are quite helpful....

So.....how come my two finalists are both in WV? Waaaaaaay in WV! Both are between 5-6 hours from Ashburn.

So you like the Targa?

****my concern****
Take a look at the CS console, right below the steering wheel. See that opening? That's the gas tank.....

I like the skiff! My friend has one and they are sweet

So from the perspective of taking the gas line and reaching over the edge to fill up the tank, that may be inconvenient....but isn't everything else awesome?

I think I can deal with the filling up hassle....I was more worried about having the gas tank at my feet. For some reason, it worries me.
The CS is a fishing barge. No frills.....but very functional. The Targa will do better in rougher water but the CS will do better is shallow water. I can go on and on and on and on........

One of the features you liked on the Targa was the seating with fore and aft pedestals with and more seats in the cockpit. The CS says it can take 15 aboard, but where do they all sit?

Like I said.....I can go on and on and on and on......
The CS is limited in the seating arena, just like any CC boat. I might be able to but a seat post aft but not sure. Don't think I will bring 15 on board though......
Steering the CS is a stand up deal most of the time.....the Targa has a very comfortable Side Console arrangement.

Sounds like you prefer the Targa....
ULTIMATUM! Decision must be made by tomorrow so you can pick the boat up Sunday and take Monday off to test fish it!

Man...that's a lot of pressure! Thankfully, it is supposed to be cold all next week so I don't feel so bad being boat less......
Last time, it all came together nicely. I was in a hurry at 1st but then slowed things down......
I just found out I am #2 in line for the CS.....some guy from Richmond is going to look at it tomorrow. I can't go, oldest son's birthday!
This will shake out correctly...I know this 'cause either way, I can't lose!

I'm having a lot of trouble looking at that Targa and not thinking about how it would have been nice to sit farther back like that on that day you, Mo, and I went out and I got drenched with a wave to the face while sitting in the bow seat
