I got to the ramp about 6:40am. It was chilly. The crew team was putting in their jon, but were off the ramp by the time I was ready. Water looked good but is getting low and clear.
I tried a seam area for a while with bottom baits, but no bites. There were turkeys calling on an island close by. Very peaceful. I floated out of there after a while and started casting a small swim bait and a little original craw pattern shad rap. After a few casts, I hooked a fish. It was a healthy 14.5" that did not want to sit still, but I gor this picture before releasing it.
I was excited thinking I may have a crankbait bite going. Unfortunately, that was the only one. I tied on a grub and rotated between two cranks and the grub and swimbait. No love on that. I decided to run back up to where I started. I anchored right before a little deeper area and threw different baits, but I did get one bite that pulled down my tube from the jig head, but did not get hooked.
The sun was out and it was nice, but the fishing was slow. I saw a few suckers, lots of carp were jumping and splashing and I even saw a couple smallies cruising, but nothing would bite. After floating for a while after eating my PB&J sandwich, the wind picked up and it was getting hot. I decided to call it a day and was off the water about 12:00pm.

Well, you did say (to me) that you were going to fish the morning. Goal reached. And you caught one to boot!
It was a spectacular day today!!

One cool thing about the catch was the lure. I have had this lure since the late 1970's. I have caught a crappie out of the "O" and a small striper out of the inlet from Roaches Run to Gravelly boat launch with it. Both, many years ago. I changed out the hooks recently.

Ah…trebles. I was not happy that Bruce had trebles on his spoons today.
And yes, there was blood loss!

Both…fish bled as did my fingers.

I have that same Shad Rap, but mine is probably mid-90s vintage. Don't think I've ever thrown it.

It is the little one. #5 I think. That color works. It is just too light to throw unless they are super finicky.
