Road Trip 2016

Heading to Lake Guntersville Saturday with Capt Dave. Fishing with Derick Remitz two days like bookends to our Houma LA redfish trip. Details when we get back.
But while I am down there I am going to pickup from a local tackle shop two of those magnum spoons designed by Nichols for some vertical jigging on the bay..

Do you think I should remove the treble and just use two assist hooks at the top?

Re: Road Trip 2016

You know me....NO trebles!!

Assist hooks would work or a single dressed hook on the butt end....

Can't wait to see the report...good luck down there!

Time to go fishin' again!

Re: Road Trip 2016

Thank you, we managed to get some perfect weather every day we fish. Well from the professional guessers called weathermen that is.
The Frog bite is epic on Guntersville right now and the big Black drum have moved into the shallows of Terrebonne Parish and those big Blacks are like freight trains.
This will be a fun trip with many hours of driving. Capt Dave said he will drive the whole way.. (tongue in cheek)

Re: Road Trip 2016

I fished the big magnum spoon last two trips on the Bay south of PLO. Got one good hit but hook pulled. Bought two of them and lost the first on third cast to oyster on bottom. Removed the treble on the next one and used assist hooks. Just did not work right so put dressed treble back on. Fished it in 50 feet of water and like I said got one hit. It looked really good in the water and was the spitting image of a bunker. At the end of my trip last Sunday I gave it to Capt Brady for him to try it. He had several trips still planned. If you see at a flea market buy it and try it.

I really needed more fish and bigger fish under the boat to have it work.. but that is fishing.
