March 14th new regs for Potomac

The crappie limit is now 10 per person. That means if you are stopped in PRFC waters with more you will get a ticket. This truly is a good thing as one boat can not wipe out a single spot like before. Also some good news is the size limit for white perch has been dropped from 6 inches to no size limit. This is great news for us catfishing guys.

Glad to see that action taken to help sustain a great fishery.

Is this for both VA and MD?

PRFC controls the Potomac and tribs to the fall line from Below DC to the mouth of the river.

Re: March 14th new regs for Potomac

Have you heard the talk about MD DNR limiting anglers to possessing one fish over 15"? Seems...ridiculous and hard to believe.

I'm reading stuff all over the internet about how tournament anglers will now be allowed five bass from 12-15" with one over 15"

This new rule will apply to all TX directors. If a person weighs in more than one fish over 15 inches the director will be fined. However the creel limit is still 5 over 15" for recreational anglers till June 15th.
After June 15th it a 12 inch minimum. It also looks like VA and PRFC will enforce this rule at the weigh in. This is a conservation effort to reduce the amount of stress on larger fish.

This rule will go into effect June16th of 2016. The DNR is also asking that all TX directors apply this new rule as a courtesy before the June 16th dead line as well.

I think this a good thing as the number fisherman each weekend has increased by 400 % since 1998.
