Fish Identification

While fishing the Upper Potomac on Sunday near Lander, I caught a fish that looked like some type of shad. It was about 9" long, silvery, with a forked tail. Caught it on a small in-line spinner. Sorry, no pictures. Does anyone know what it might have been?
Thanks,
Bruce

Re: Fish Identification

Perhaps a fall fish or a large shiner.

Fall fish sounds right to me.
