When you say "closer to the Potomac" do you mean like Ft. Belvoir close or just downstream of Lake Accotink?

The bridge at Belvoir that takes you to the training areas actually got washed out with the hurricane last fall. If you are looking for something a bit further up stream, try where it goes under whoos road. You will have to park and hoof it in to the bridge.

Thanks, I do mean closer to FT. Belvoir. Basically, looking for decent bass and possible snakehead. When I look at google maps the only spots that look like i could get to are on base - which i do not think i allowed to do.

You can get onto the base with a valid government issued photo ID, but I'm not exactly sure where or if they will let you fish in certain areas.

Launching of boats/kayaks/canoes use to be prohibited. Not sure if that is still the case.
