The plan was to get Jimmy's grandson #1 James out. He already has the fishing bug and has caught some large fish. The rain put a question mark on whether we would be able to get out. We decided to go but meet at 7am to miss most of the rain. Got off ok and got to spot #1. I had a plopper 75 on for James and I had the 90 size on. We did not see fish busting at first, but they started after we settled. I hooked up first cast, but the fish jumped and threw the lure. Jimmy and I were coaching James on where to throw and soon he was hooked up. Not a big one, but it was a start.

A couple casts later; James has a better one on. 17"+.

I hooked a couple smaller ones and James caught another.

Jimmy got on the board.
That bite died off and we went for a ride upriver to float back. Things started out slow. Finally, Jimmy get a good hit and the fight was on! Turned out to be a nice catfish.

Then a smallie.
It was a while before we got on a better bite. Then it happened. James had a beast on. After a great fight, we net this beauty.

The rest of the day we found a few more fish. One spot had fish stacked up and we all picked up our numbers. I caught one baby Flathead that I dispatched.

It got hot and we were beat. Nice morning with Eagles and some Sandpipers and a Buck siting. Some kids were doing catamaran sailboats and having a blast. The pair of Blackhawks made their way downriver. Our final Count was Jimmy with 11 and James and I tied with 10 each. Off the water before 12:30pm.
