Otter Tail County Minnesota 5/25-6/6

Got back from my annual trip yesterday. Had two weeks of wonderful weather other than a couple smokey days from Canadian wildfires. Hung out with relatives a lot and ate some great food. Of course, the fishing was terrific as always, I hit 9 different lakes and caught all of the usual suspects.

Quality largemouth

This was a new one. I was out fishing and when it was time to head back in I realized I couldn't see the boat landing. That was because a huge, heavy raft of cattails had blown right into the dock and completely blocked off the ramp. Fortunately there was jussst enough room on the right side of the dock for me to slide the boat in and back the trailer under it. If my boat was any longer or heavier I'm not sure what I would have done.

Didn't catch very many pike this year. Not complaining.

There's a very unique lake I fish that is small, shallow, and choked with weeds. It looks like largemouth paradise but it's full of nice smallmouth. It even has sturgeon in it.

Bluegill beds. They were vacant when I got there.

Couple nice sunnies from the dock.

Caught walleye from the dock most nights while casting a jerkbait. Plenty of bass too.

Good one on a popper.

Turned these into fish tacos for everyone.

The dock hadn't been put in yet when I arrived, so when it came to shore fishing I improvised for a couple days.

The lake where our cabin is has Zebra Mussels now, as do most of the lakes in the area.

Re: Otter Tail County Minnesota 5/25-6/6

Thanks guys. I did more fishing in the last two weeks than I had in the previous 5 months. It's always tough to leave MN knowing that I won't be back for a year. Looking forward to getting back into the salt now.
