Leon and I had a float planned for Thursday but after looking at the forecasted river levels and Wednesday nights forecast, it waa decided to hit TBE River another day. I had a backup plan for large mouth in case this happened. With the river still a little too high for the kayak, large mouth it waa.
I got started about 10:45 and it was still pretty cloudy, but water color was good. I waa hoping there would be so!w top water action because of that so I started with a black Berkley Chopp and fluke for missed hits. Also.had a spinnerbait and crank bait and finesse worm rigged as well. It didn't take long for my hunch to be proven right.
Had two quick hits on the Choppo with no hookup, with a start and stop retrieve on a long shallow point. Started working down a rocky bank getting hits with no hookuos until this one about 13".
Continued down the bank to a shallow rocky flat, catching another one that size and then this bigger one on the choppo.
I ultimately went back and forth between the first point and flat along the bank throwing the choppo and also a Mann's-1 to wake the surface. Got the biggest of.the day on that crank on the shallow flat close to the bank.
Ended uo.with 11 landed, probably 15 hits on the choppo, for a fun day on the water. Sometimes large mouth can be fun

Top water hits are the best. Nice work.

Topwater and 1- cranks. Sounds like a good time to me!

Certainly was a fun day. Even the one I caught on a spinner bait was so shallow on the first point that it essentially cleared the water when it hit

Even in a flood, you can still find places to catch fish!
