Found a few

I was finally able to get out last week on Friday as work and water levels kept me off the river before that.  So myself, Leon and Jacob met @ 9:30 at the take out, loaded up stuff in Leon's vehicle and were off.   We saw a group of deer along the road and some birds as we started paddling, which I hoped was a good sign.

We pretty much paddled through these first 3/4 of a mile as it was a stretch of shallow and minimum good current breaks.  But there was a deeper pool above the rapids which deserved some attention.  A few casts later, a 13" smallie was in the kayak.  Switched to the suspending jerkbait for a few casts and landed a nice 16.5" that nailed it.

That was it for a couple of hours, even though we floated through a few nice holes. Jacob had a couple of hits in that time and Leon had one get off.  Got to another deeper area and started throwing the jerkbait again.  Felt some solid weight and saw I had a good one on. Turned out to be a solid 17.5" that looked to be full of eggs or had put on some winter weight.

Picked another 15" on a bottom plastic lure and snagged a 18" carp on top of the head with the jerkbait at the end of the float.  Leon and Jacob both ended up with the dreaded skunk unfortunately.  The wind also made it a little chilly out there.
