I got out after a doctor appointment to try the high but dropping river. Saw George hiking when I paid the fee.
The crew team was already out and the ramp was clear. I headed out about 9:20am to a very muddy looking river. Launch went well and I decide to make a run for either clearer water or likely ambush areas out of the flow. Spot #1 was a bust.
I was not feeling it, so continued to run. Spot #2 was muddy but had a good eddy to work. Took a while, but got the skunk out with a chunk on a tube at the likely spot at the end of the spot.

I floated out after no more bites there. Had some company.
Decided to hit the creek for some clearer water. Worked the mouth real good, then hit the inner creek a little. Got a little smallie on the z-man hula stick.
Then I was working a little area near the mouth where I saw some minnows jumping. A couple casts in. I got a good take after pulling over a rock. It was a solid fish that put up a great fight. Chunky fish.

I had drfted into a little pocket just above the spot I caught the fish. After I released it. I re-set and made another cast to the same spot. Pulled the lure over the little rock and felt the take. I reeled in and set the hook and the fish pulled back hard. Crazy head shakes and few drag pulls. I netted the fish and it was a tank!

I weighed it after a dunk/breath and it was 4.62 pounds. 2 great fish back to back from the same spot. I thought I had hit the motherload, but no bites there after that.
I ran up creek just a little with the TM. Caught this chunky LM.
I ate my lunch. Missed a smallie on the tube. Went back to the mouth after that and caught a little chunk on the tube.
Then I tried working the area where I caught the 2 bigger ones. Caught one little smallie a little downstream from the others near a laydown by shore.
I ran back downriver and tried a few spots near the islands, but the water was muddy with floating grass and debris. I might have got one bite.
I saw the pm crew team and a couple crazy jet skis tearing around and decided to call it quits. Off the water by 5pm.
Very happy with the bigger fish and had 7 total. Also saw a red breasted hawk land near the water and the Ospreys and Eagles. Fun outing despite the muddy high water.

Good to see you found some greenish water. And you found some good fish!
The river was up over 7' when you launched. I think the highest I ever put in was 6.5'.

I have been out in 7 foot before, so was confident I would be ok. Plus, the boat is running great. Looks like the river will be good through next week.

Nice job on finding a few that high water. That one is certainly a tank

Some nice fish. With the muddy river I would have expected you to cat a couple catfish too
