9/11/2024 Morning shore fishing

I got out early and was at my spot by 6:15am.

Water was low with grass patches topping out, making fishing tricky.  I started with the little popper and not much happening until I had a blowup retrieving the lure but missed.  I tried the wacky rigged hula stickz, but it was getting in the grass.  I went back to the popper and tried casting a little further down and finally got a taker.

It felt nice to get a topwater bite.  Was a little challenging trying to avoid the grass, but I guided the fish with no problem.  A couple casts later, I got blasted by a bigger fish.  After a nice fight, I got her to shore.  A chunky 16"er.

That was it.  Off before 8am.

I hope, but we will see.  Saw quite a few crawfish scooting around.  Light green with a light blue tint on the claws.  Saw a guy go out in a kayak and head downstream early.  A while later, I heard some whooping and saw he was near the end of the island.  I figured he might have caught a good one.

According to Jay's Wintry Mix, "There is an increasing chance now that some of the leftover energy from Hurricane Francine will spin a new storm off the east coast early next week and give us some substantial rain. Most likely Tuesday at this point if it were to happen. The track of the storm is still in question as far as how north it can go due to a blocking ridge to its north. Stay tuned!"
