I did an afternoon trip after some morning appointments.  Water was about 1.6 feet at Point of Rocks, so getting skinny.  The low water and grass make running the gas motor a challenge, so I was not planning on going far.  Got on the water just before 1:00pm.  Water was a great color.  There was one other boat fishing above me, but I was just floating to get acclimated.  I got the skunk off with a z-man trick shotz on a 1/16 oz wobble head.  Little guy, but feisty.



It started slow.  I watched an Osprey hunting and then saw a juvenile Bald Eagle fly in.  They had an epic showdown, but I could not get a good picture with my phone.  Here is the victor.  You could only see the white feathers on the tail from the top.



I moved upriver a bit without issue.  The one boat was floating above me, so I just stayed out if his way.  It was slow for a bit.  I watched 2 bigger boats put on a show.  One was a jet and one was a prop.  The prop boat had his engine trimmed way up but got stuck just above me.  The jet came over to help and his dog jumped in the water.  He was scrambling trying to get the dog back in the boat.  I was able to better position after they finally moved upriver.

Things picked up from here.  I was catching mostly in 2 fish back to back.  Nothing huge, but some well-fed healthy fish.  Some examples:















Then I watched another Osprey/Bald Eagle showdown.  Same deal with the pictures.  Just got the victor.



Continued with catching sporadically.  Quite a few little guys, but mostly 2 fish in a row when I got bit.





I finally floated back and saw the crew team was out and many more boats had launched, so I decided to get off the water while the ramp was not crowded.  15 smallies total.  All on the one lure.  Tried the crank, topwaters and other plastics.  It just had the right swim to avoid the grass.  Off the water before 6pm.  Great day to be out!
