I did not see a local lakes 2024, so here I am. Got up super early to be at the ramp about 5:30am when they open. One other boat was putting in. Weather was really nice in the morning. I tried one spot close by, then moved a little further downstream. I tried a topwater and a Berkeley Nessie for a few casts, but not a sniff. Watched a deer feeding on a super steep cliff. Switched to a big Hula stick in my favorite color and felt a tick about my third cast off a bluff wall.
Nice fight and a couple jumps later I landed this LM.
Not too long later I missed a hit near a grass line and then casted out to a point inside a cove. Was working it slow when I noticed the line moving. I set the hook and it felt heavier. I played it a bit before getting it in the net.

After that I got snagged and broke off that lure. I moved around but no bites for a while. I made a run. Crew teams, kayakers and a few other fishing boats were out. Then I made a bigger move.
Ended up fishing a main lake inlet/points. Wind was picking up, so I used that by fishing the wind blown side (light wind). After a few casts. I felt resistance and set the hook on this little chunk.
I moved around and tried some more spots, but wind and higher sun made it a challenge with no electronics. Fished for a couple more hours, then headed back to the ramp. Off the water about 11:20am. Came home, took a shower and a nap. Caught 5 LM (2 were 12" or less) mission accomplished.
