Otter Tail County Minnesota 5/28-6/7

Yesterday I got back from my annual trip to Minnesota, where I did a lot of visiting relatives and a lot of fishing. Had very mild weather this year, it hit 75 on the day I left and that was the warmest day of the trip, most days were in the 60s. There was a lot of wind which made getting out on the water a bit difficult, but when I did get out, the fish cooperated. I fished 7 lakes this year and got quality largemouth, smallmouth, pike, walleyes, and panfish.

Nice LM on a frog.

The best walleye fishing was off the  dock at night with a jerkbait.

Fat LM on a popper.

I never get tired of the panfish up there. Big, plentiful, and cooperative. Some really cool colors too.

I caught bass on numerous lures, but a popper was the MVP this year.

Was lucky to land this big pike on 8lb fluoro.

Dinner from the dock.

Bite was hot on this day. One of the few days I wasn't hiding from the wind.

This nice walleye swallowed the jerkbait and was turned into fillets.

The weather is always perfect on the day I have to leave.

This is the report I always look forward to seeing!  Those bluegills are huge!!!  And the best eating fish all around is the walleye and you did not disappoint.

Nice variety - glad to see you ate the walleye.  Best fresh water fish for the filet knife imho

For me it would be mosquitos and winter.

That's exactly why I'm not in Alaska!  The mosquitos are huge up there and they don't get much asian food apparently (so I get swarms of them coming after me to the point they chased me into the car and started pecking at the window).  And yes...you know the winters up there.

^ this right here.

I moved there in my early 20s but when my 6mo lease was up just before winter I decided I didn't want to deal with it so I came home. It's an absolutely lovely place from May-October though...except for the skeeters.
