6-9-24 Potomac river at Quantico

Went out Sunday morning and hoped the carp and gar weren't as crazy as the week before (ramming into my yak to get some...lol).  Launched at 9 am and off I went into the wind.

I found a nice cove where the waters were calm, but no luck.  I worked my way down the grass line and let the wind push me as I worked it and the large mouth bass were biting!

Here is a short vid of my first catch and release.  I didn't bother with measuring or weighing and got her back in the water quickly.  Note the long lower jaw.

Got another one shortly after....

and then one more before a crazy wind storm came in...

On my way back a snake was swimming in the water and I didn't want to hit it with the prop of the kayak, so I stopped peddling.  Only to have it jump on the yak and scare the crap out of me for a second....
Of course it is harmless, it just surprised me since I was looking down in the water for it....not on the kayak!  Here is a nice closeup of the little guy.  You can see how colorful and cool he looks.

I busted a gut watching that last video! "Really, you gotta scare me like that"! lol

The kayak pedal system is cool. Way better than Hobie. Good way to get some cardio in.

Very nice outing!

Edited for correct vids.  Yeah, I laughed at myself pretty hard afterwards.  I saw the snake and said let me see if I can video it real quick and it just popped up on the bow!

I was fishing out back a couple of weeks back and a water snake came across and right at me. Once it hit the brush (and was invisible to me)...it was time to quit. I know the are harmless but....

Aww what a cutie.  Wife would have wanted to hold the snake.

Good job on the lm
