As EPIC day of lost fish!

Bev and I were on the water and fishing just before 8a.

I had lamented about getting out today with the weather forecasts being all over the place about morning rain. So we went and we barely got wet. It did rain between 10-11a just like they said. The other concern was early Manorial Day knuckleheads. But there weren't any out today, thankfully. There were 4-5 boats out though.

The 1st spot we went to was occupied by another fella so we chatted. He said, "you should have been here an hour ago!". So we hit the other side of the island and got some bites and the 1st of 6-7 hooked and lost fish! mad

Oh, my original plan was to run up and fish around White's Ferry and then have lunch at the grill. The rain forecast scared me as well as an internet post. Aren't they all true? Some one on FB said that WF ramp was closed. Not sure if they meant you can't launch or if they blocked it off. Or if it's even true. Anyway, we didn't go.

One thing for sure today, as lethargic as it was, Bev and I had some fun. He and I go way back to my Little League presidency days in Sterling. He used to work tirelessly for the kids.

So we caught some:

And Bev had a good time taking pics!

We caught 5 fish in total. While Bev's 1st fish was small (not as teeny as one of mine), he didn't want a picture, expecting to catch some more.

As mentioned before, the bites (other than BG's ) were lethargic. The fish I caught on a tube never "bit", he simply picked it up and when I felt weight, I set the hook.

But we were still amazed as to how many fish came unbuttoned, some right by the boat. I checked the hooks and they were sharp.

We had lunch at the Mediterranean Breeze, an old favorite of ours. As always, Cher Terry never disappoints.

I'll be off the water for a bit, on a self imposed time out! lol

This weekend, we honor those who have paid the ultimate price to preserve our freedom. I still have to pinch myself when I think that I get to live  in this great country. God Bless America!
