River 5/20/24

I planned to get out today, but I had to get bloodwork done for upcoming physical in the morning.  It worked out, due to the heavy fog.

I made it on the water just after 10am.  Still very cloudy, but fog starting to dissipate.

I stopped to fish one spot nearby, and caught this chunky one on the BIG TRD.

I did not stay there long.  Made a run to stop #2.  This was the same spot I caught a bunch on Friday.  It did not disappoint.   First cast with the TRD.

I was able to catch 4 in a row.  Pretty much similar in size (12-14.5").

The bite slowed and then I caught one on a Roboworm ned bait on a small jighead.  Then a second, smaller one.  I will not bore you with all pics.

While I was at that spot, an Osprey was giving me hell and attacked a fish about 20 feet away from my boat.  He missed and did not like me catching his fish.  The other cool thing was I heard a fish hit the surface behind me.  I grabbed my rod with a buzzbait and made a cast.  A fish took a half-hearted swipe and missed.  But it tried!

As the clouds thinned, the bite slowed, so I made another run.  Spot #3 I caught 1 bass on the roboworm ned.  He would not be still.

A few casts later I felt a good hit.  The fish stayed low and felt like it might have been a catfish.  It was a 19"er.

That was it for that spot.  The sun came out and I made a run further up.  That did not pan out, as the water was more stained and there was no real shade.  I managed one catfish on the flatworm.  Only fish I caught on that bait today.

I had to take a picture of this spooky looking tree.  I ran to another spot and managed one more little smallie before deciding to start running back.

Between the sun and the cloudy water, I was not feeling it.  I made my way back and was off the water by 3pm.    Total was 8 or 9 smallies and the two cats.

So...how do your blood work people turn around results for the next day? Mine always say to do the blood a week before.

Anyway, looks like some nice catching today.

That catfish looks like it has a tumor!

Re: River 5/20/24

This was so misleading: "but I had to get bloodwork done for upcoming physical in the morning". lol

I though you went to a magic doc!  Only reason I caught it is that I just had my blood work done last week for 2 appointments this week. Ahhh....getting older is so much fun! big_smile

Re: River 5/20/24

I forget how to fix it.  Rising water was good.  Color of that water was not so much.  Should be good today.
