8-9, Cedar on the yak!

I fished Cedar in the mid PM on the yak. Actually, it was drift fishing as the winds were pushing 15 from the west. While it was hot, it was not as muggy as the doomsdayers had predicted.....the breeze felt nice.

On the 1st drift, I picked up a 12" and a 13", both on the bottom and I never felt the take. I also hooked another one but I never saw it.

On the 2nd drift, I hooked a 10 incher and this 14.5 incher!

On the 3rd drift, I scored two 13 inchers and a 12. I had a prolonged time at the graveyard on this drift as the winds calmed for a bit. Also, I only used one lure, a weighted copper tube on a 7' MF baitcaster (could have used a MHF for better hook sets). I got snagged 3 times at the graveyard and managed to get free each time.

I thought I had a nice 2 hours on the water with seven fish (4-5 other bites/takes) until I heard a guy get all exited on the north shore. On his 1st cast (using a dark worm), he hooked this nice hawg!

After the release, his buddy informed him that he had broken his rod tip at which time he yelled out "YES!". Nice fish Scott!

Re: 8-9, Cedar on the yak!

The fish I caught was only a bit over a pound and it came from 10-12 feet of water so it was a nice pull.....

Scott's big fish came from the bank!
