John N. and I were set to meet CT at the farm at 7a. We both left in plenty of time only to find only one lane open on 66! Yikes! A detour to Rt. 29 all the way to Gainesville kept us moving and we arrived only a few minutes late. All good!

We splashed the boat and the fly only trip began.

Top water was going to be the name of the game at the start.

It didn't take long and we both got the skunk of!

And a few other surprises...

Then things slowed up!

I wonder if John D.'s ears were burning because we talked a lot about him and the Solunar tables. You see, today was only a 1 Star day! I haven't looked at these tables for a long time until John mentioned it to me yesterday. That explains the slow fishing on Monday (another 1 Star day).

We struggled catching one here and there, enough to keep us occupied.

But then, after lunch (John brought subs from the Italian Store), we hit One Hour Hole. On his 1st cast, John hooks up! He caught a dozen here, I caught a few less but we caught them.

It's hard to get the fly down on the bottom (with moving water) which is what they like in this hole. But we managed some. It really is not a hole, just a bubbly section of the river that we believe holds lots of crayfish.

Anyway, we were happy with the outcome and continued on down the river.

We kept catching a few more, much better than before lunch.

The weather was beautiful. At times, we had a nice breeze that would cool us off and it was not too humid. But we did have a bluebird day with a few clouds showing up in the distance. Shaded areas were a premium!!

No big fish today but we each caught a coupe of dozen. John maybe a few more.

Oh..taking pics while fly fishing is a royal PIA. Line control is my Achilles heel when it comes to fly fishing.
