This is starting to become a tradition...
Picked up George and Leon at 5:50a and by 7:20a we were at the Chaptico Market for their famous Sausage, egg & cheese sammies. Man...they were as good as ever! Sorry, forgot pic. They have a big breakfast crowd. All the locals go there. And us!
We were on the water shortly before 8a and we had to make a stop to do something (George had to fix a line ) over by this rip rap. In no time, the boat skunk was off. Like there was ever any doubt it would. It's just a matter of minutes.
Leon caught a croaker here...the 1st of 4 species he caught today.
We knew that there was a threat of T-Storms at 3-4p but we were not gonna stay that long anyway. Our plan was to be back to the Market for lunch before 2p. We missed that goal.
I had a plan and the 1st real stop was in a shaded area that I had never fished before. It's hard to imagine that there are areas of the W that I haven't fished. We reminisced about Carl 1st taking me here in the summer of 1984. Almost 40 years!!
Anyway, there was some shady shoreline so we started fishing.
It was game on!
I bet that we caught better than a fish a minute for 90 minutes. It was insane!
This blurry pic is the 1st of 29 TRIPLES for the day!
Leon's 3rd species!
It just did not matter what we threw at them, it was fish after fish after fish.
It was getting hot so we took a short ride to cool off and came back to a new spot in the same general area. It had slowed a bit but we still caught a bunch. It seemed that the tide had run out here so time to move.
I wanted to stay close to the ramp because of the predicted weather but I decided to make a run for the bar. The rip was there and so were the fish.
Leon's 4th species.
The fishing here was off the charts! This is where we caught our 29th triple. No clue to how many double but 50-60 is unarguable.
That's over 200 fish in just multiple fish catches!
I looked at the radar and saw some weather in Waldorf so I told the boys I wanted to start to go back and fish closer to the ramp. Although the rip had gone away with the tide change when we left, we left biting fish.
At the next stop, we all caught a few and the we heard thunder. There was no mutiny...all of us agreed that we we tired and hot so in we went.
After putting the boat up, we took off again for the Market. It was noon! What?
We basically fished for less than 4 hours and caught 300+ fish...easy Had we stayed, we would have threatened the Lipetz' record of 500+!
We giggled like little kids on the way to lunch.
While we only caught a few eaters, we caught 'em! There were 2-3 other places that I wanted to fish but that 2nd spot was a good as any place that I have caught perch.
Lunch was great!
I brought home 8 lbs of their sausage. It had just gone through the grinder!
What a day....well, 1/2 day!

Between getting up early, the drive, fishing and lunch - it was a day
Almost every cast a fish. Unreal
Stock up on sausage too - have them all wrapped up and getting frozen now - well, except for a batch for dinner tonight
Thx again for finding the school Skipper

I'm going to try to reproduce that sandwich at home.
I'm a green machine and luv them. Cured ham's all over the place in Virginia.
Ordered the potato bread and that's an easy one
When I do, lunch will be on me Captain

When I ordered my sausage, I asked the lady for 3 bags worth. I thought that I would get 5-6 pounds. Well, she stuffed the bags and I came home with11+ lbs.!
Here is the 1st batch.

11 pounds. Holy Sausage Batman
What are you making? Or are you just cooking them up and freezing?
I had sausage this morning for breakfast. Added some dried Thai chili powder to give it an extra kick

I'll freeze those patties 2 at a time for quick breakfasts.
The rest is in 2.5lb bags (3) in the freezer. Has to last me a year...unless I go fishin' down there again. That stuff sells out quick down there.
