6-30-07, Cedar Lake Kayak Report

In order to avoid the massive algae mats, I used the kayak this morning. I got out on the pond about 7:15 this morning. The target was large mouth bass on top water but it was just not meant to be.....however, the blue gills were slurpin' on top and they were big!

I had tried 2-3 top water offerings at 1st but had no takers.....but they were on to the green foam bug.

All the BGs were palm size or bigger. The one in the 1st picture was 3/4 lb easy! I was using a 6 wt in hopes of catching a lunker bass but I'm glad I did anyway because of all the algae in the pond. The BGs would run for cover and I would have to horse them out of the weeds.

At around 8:30, the top water bite stopped cold and I started throwing a black/green sparkle bead head wooly and they liked that too!

All told, I fished for about 2 hours and lost count after 20! Nice morning!
