PA Fly Fishing - 8/10-11/2019

Visited the in-laws last weekend and snuck out from some early morning mountain fishing Saturday and hit Little J Sunday morn. I'm fan of their neck of the woods.

Nice! The Little J is my favorite stream so far within a few hour drive. What were the browns eating?

Thanks for the comments fellas. Paul - I dead drifted and swung wet flies for those. I posted on the PA Fly Fishing blog years ago and Dave Allbaugh met up with me and taught me the technique .... if fish aren't rising it's all i do at LJ now. Happy to pass along the tips he gave me if you'd like.

This is a great video on swinging wets and flies used. I have better success with this than dead drifting nymphs with an indicator because you don't need have the perfect dead drift and you can feel every take. You can also cast upstream using a euro style and have lots of success. Good luck!

Houli, sorry was traveling and lost track of this thread.

Great info, thanks. I've only been at the fly fishing thing for a few months now and really loving it. I'm mostly tight line nymphing right now and also fishing dries and nymphing with an indicator from time to time when necessary. I plan to fish more streamers in the fall. My plan for next spring is to continue to expand my horizons and add swinging wet flies to the game plan.

I'm always up for a trip if you ever want to carpool to PA.
