We went camping in Mathews County over the weekend and I got to try a new spot. Got on the water early each day looking for trout but I was quickly distracted by Spanish mackerel. They were in the shallows tearing through baitfish and jumping all over the place. Catching them on light tackle in 2 feet of water is a lot of fun!
Both days were basically the same. I'd cast trout lures until I saw Spanish jumping, and then start throwing metal. All in all I caught Spanish, specks, weakfish, blues, croaker, reds, houndfish, and a ton of stripers. The Spanish and specks were good size but everything else was pretty small. Too hard to keep count this time lol.

Crazy right? It was a little chilly first thing in the morning. Didn't wear it for very long but it came in handy later for wiping fish slime off my hands.
