Grandson didn't get here until 9:30 this morning, but he was ready to go immediately. North Anna arm was a muddy mess, so we just kept going down towards the splits. Saw 3 boats working birds there and left them alone with those fish. Started out at Jetts and put a keeper in the boat right away.
The fish were mostly scattered and we worked our way up past Stubbs only to loose 4 fish in the process (Benjamin has a hard time keeping his rod tip up with a fish on, and a low tip with slack spells you-know-what). Anyway, he hooks up with a monster a little after noon and it is a drag screamer. I have to take over after 5 minutes or so and get it within 10 feet of the boat and get a look......it is massive and at least 36" and 20 lbs. It takes off like a bat out of hell when it sees the boat. It gets off after another 10 minutes of chasing it with the boat.....oh well.....just another great "fish story"
He swears that he wants to go out again tomorrow morning in the sub-20 temps. We'll see..........

Sucks to lose that big one but there will be some nice fillets on that keeper he's holding.
