George came over at 5:45a but he was in need of a VA fishing license so we got that accomplished.

We decided to put in up river and crossed the 'mac at White's Ferry.

Launching was a cinch (once I took the back straps off) and away we went.

It was nice in the AM...

...but what we found was a very fast, high and stained river but it did have some green to it.

We motored up river.

We hit structure and shoreline but it was just hard to control the lures. George finally scored in a seam.

He would get another one like it a bit later.

I finally got the skunk off 2+ hours from when we started!

And then I tied George!

All of this in just 4 hours!   tongue

We actually went in to an area that is generally very shallow and had no trouble getting up. Only problem was that it was like a chute and the water was screaming! We did find some eddies and got a few bites (they were few an far between).

Then I told George that we were going to fish Harrison Island which I have fished many times before after making the long 10 mile run from Algonkian. It's mere 1/2 mile run from White's ferry!

George scored quickly...

...and then I tied it up!

He then caught a better fish but put it back before I could get the camera out.

By now, it was getting hot but the wind started to blow which made it nice.

We were about done and I told George that I was going big so i tied on a 5" Skinny Dipper and sure enough, it caught the big fish of the day at 15.5"!

Most of the fish were caught on ribbed paddle tails.

The fishing was tough for sure but we were satisfied that we worked hard for the 8 smallies! And the move we made produced 4 smallies in less than 2 hours.

My sides still hurt from listening to some of George's stories and antics but you will have to fish with him to hear them...no way I am re telling them!

Good day out on the water!!

Time to go fishin' again!

Glad to see you got to explore some more river and catch a few!  It was hot today!  That high water is really making fishing a challenge.

Always wishin' I was fishin'

You asked LOL

Had a great time. Saw a bunch of bald eagles & ospreys - great seeing the majestic raptors soaring in numbers again

Enjoyed the day fishing even though it was slow and thank you again
