Our next tourney is on May 12, starting at 7:30a for HS students and 8:00a for non-HS students.
On Oct. 18, 2008, we had our 1st BRHS Tourney......thus making this Spring's tourney- #20!
As always, I can use a few good people to help me out during the event.
More info later....

May 12 is set.
JC has offered to make BBQ for the participants and volunteers!!!
I would like to have some help (day of) in setting up etc. as I won't be at 100% yet by then.

Please spread the word that we do have a Non HS division for elementary and middle school kids. They are more that welcome to come....would love to have a heads up if they do.
As always, we have prizes for all participants.

Hey Ernie, I'd like to volunteer, let me know how I can help.
I can also make some decent ribs for everyone, Capt Mike has tried them!
My wife will bring my 2 boys (5 and 8) later on that morning to fish as well.

Awesome! JC is already bringing BBQ so if If you bring the ribs, we'll keep it for the adults!
You can bring your kids with you and fish a bunch.
I can get the tourney started in the early AM. Most of the help I need is around 11 am to put the prize bags together. Only need 1/2 hour or so. I could use a photographer (JC might be able but he is also doing the BBQ) as well but it doesn't take long to get some decent shots. I will take some pics form home base.
I will also need an accountant since I am not sure if Greg will be able to make it or not since his son is graduating college the day before. We just need to tally all of the score sheets quickly while we eat before we give out the awards.
This is a fairly low work event, hopeful to have 15-20 participants.

I say yes to ribs! Esp if it is Capt Mike approved and it's just for the adults haha. The more BBQ the better I'm just doing pulled pork. I'm planning on smoking 2 butts and that should be plenty to feed the estimated crowded, even after considering hungry high school boys lol. It is going to be one heck of a #20 event, which means we'll have to go even bigger for the 10 year anniversary one in the fall!

Well you're in luck, I'm a CPA and I can help with the tallying. I sent you an email Ernie.
I *think* Capt Mike approves...it's hard to compete with George's on 210...I'll make 3 racks, since that's what the size comes in from Costco.

Here we go!
We had 13 HS students and 4 non HS students.
Great tourney.
Thanks to Bill and John for their help and a BIG thanks to Tom and JC for cooking up an amazing Ribs & BBQ! It made our 20th Tourney quite memorable!
HS 1st Place went to Niles Elhaldi (BR) with 81"!
We had a tie (both had the same total length and biggest fish) for 2nd and a coin flip determined the order. Jake Foster (BR) took 2nd with 79" and an 18 incher for big fish.
Damien Hammond (BW) took 3rd with the same numbers.
Big fish went to Anthony Marasco (BR) with a nice 19.75 incher!!
In the Non HS division:
1st- Chris
2nd- Avery
3rd- Brandon
Four High Schools were represented; Broad Run, Briar Woods, Stone Bridge and Chantilly.
Picture story....

Looks like you wanted in on that last picture. The trading session (last pic) is so cool! I was not able to look in...any good trades happen?

A couple good ones. It was fast and furious for a bit. One guy traded some crappie jigs for a crankbait.

That was a great time, I'm glad my kids were a part of it. JC's pulled pork was outstanding, nice smoke and crust on it. Nice meeting Ernie, John, Bill and JC.
I caught 6 LMB, my biggest at 1.93lbs, nothing on the moving baits, all on the TRD.
While walking around the lake, I was trying to help some of the kids sight fish and told them to go to senkos or something slow.
What a great lake, I saw some huge sunfish in there, probably close to 1lb. My kids said "this is the best lake ever!" mostly because they had a bite everytime the bobber went into the water, and they could see the bass on the beds but couldn't get them to bite.
The first thing Brandon did when we got home was take a look at his goodie bag, and he immediately put together his tackle box. He did it all by himself, so proud!

It was a grand ol' time! With the forecast I was worried it was going to be a scorcher, but the morning was nice and cool and by lunch it was sunny and pleasant. Tom's ribs were super tender and the flavor, I'm drooling just thinking about it again. Nice meeting John, Bill and Tom.
Tom, those shots of your kids are priceless! I hope to instill a love for fishing in my daughter as well. Then maybe I'll finally be able to go fishing again lol.
Sorry I haven't gotten around to uploading my pictures yet. There's not much this time, but I will as soon as I can!
