Since our striper trip got called due to high seas and wind, Paul and I decided to try some windy smallie fishing.

We were on the water at 10:30a, hoping for the lunch time bite.

We tried many different areas, deep to shallow and back to no avail. No bites to be had.



Finally, Paul go  a hit but in reality, he snagged a little channel cat!



Then we fished some more and he snagged a sucker!



We finally went back to where we started and a small smallie was legitimately caught!



Paul did have a follow on a jerk bait...fish came right up to the boat and then turned away.

We went down to the push water at Seneca to look around and maybe spot a deep hole or two for the winter fishing.

It was almost 4 when we headed back....



Some observations: we had a high pressure system (30.20+) on us for most of the day, the wind and current had us moving really fast when not "spot locked", we only saw 1 or 2 fish roaming around, water temp was 46-48 degrees, leaves and grass were annoying but not a big factor, we only saw 1 boat and that was late in the day.

So....time to change tactics and location....just need some more 50+* days!
