Friday the 13th, UP

We took it easy in the morning and once at the ramp, we were greeted with this!

Took a bit to get the boat into open water but we managed!

Four weeks after shoulder surgery and John is out fishing for smallies! One happy dude!

It took a bit but the 1st fish was an 18" chunk!

What is it about these smallies this year...hope it stays like that for a long time! This one peeled line like crazy, jumped a few times, went under the boat...you name it!

Then we hit another dry spell and were beginning to wonder what was going on. Only positive was that we were getting bites, albeit soft ones.

The swim bait worked!

Then the jerk bait!

John was lagging but he is still on the DL and has limited movement. Still, he did great and started catching!

Then I hear, "crap, a clump of grass...no, it's a fish! A BIG fish"!

Heck yea it was big. The beast jumped and dogged until finally subdued.

19.25"

We went on to catch a bunch more although smaller. But beefy and healthy!

Great way to spend Friday the 13th!!

Oh....the ramp was still yucky and this was the result.....

Thanks again, birthday boy!  It has been only 4 weeks since my surgery and you put me on a pig!  I thought I was done until at least December!  I hope the boat cleaned up ok.

My pleasure...now go reat up!

It took a while to get all (most) of that grass off the trailer. What a mess!

But what a day!

As an observation on Tuesday in the heat of the evening traffic drive at a rapid 7.25 mph average, the entire area above the WW was covered in green algae. It was as far as you could see from Oxen Cove to Alexandria.

Next day gone. With 80 % of the grass beds gone too.

Nice job guys

Cant Mike - I was a few miles up river.  Some grass on the bottom, but most was floating down stream to Ernie & DrX.  It's going to take a bit for the grass to die & clear from our local waters.  The grass beds held the dinks.  The clear deep area's held the bigger fish
