Rod advice - G. Loomis IMX Reaction Casting Rod

I really enjoy topwater fishing, especially with poppers. I'm looking at the G. Loomis IMX Reaction casting rod in 6'8" Medium with a fast taper (tip?):  http://www.tacklewarehouse.com/G_Loomis … e-IMR.html

I've come to like softer tips when fishing poppers, but really haven't done much jerk/crankbait fishing.

This rod is $200 on sale, and the description looks like it would fit my needs...before I pull the trigger, anyone use this or have better options for $200?

Thanks - I'm reading that a more moderate tip and slow rod is used for crankbaits, why is that?  This is a fast tip, but medium power rod...not sure if it could do all 3 (poppers, jerkbaits, and crankbaits).

Ideally, you want a softer rod for cranks and spinner baits. But it's not the end all. I like the MF or MXF for most applications. Some may differ but then you are going to need to carry 15-20 rods (like the pros) for each specific application. For me, too much like work.
