February Bassing 2/18-2/19

I bought a boat a few weeks ago, and with the forecast for the weekend I had to get it on the water. It's a 16ft Lowe, nothing real fancy but it's perfect for the small lakes and inshore saltwater spots I plan to use it in.  Not even done outfitting it yet but there's no way I could pass up 70s in February.

Saturday I hit Lake Orange with a buddy, we got there about 9am. Started off pretty well, I caught a smallish bass on a jerkbait, and a few minutes later my friend makes his third cast with a big Talon swimbait and it gets inhaled by a 6.4 largemouth.

We thought we were in for an epic day, but that was all she wrote. We stayed on the water until 4 and our only other bite was a tiny pickerel on a Silver Buddy.

Sunday I fished another local lake along with what seemed to be every other bass fisherman in Virginia. It took me a couple hours but I found some willing fish. First bite was a 3lber on a LC Pointer 100.

I got a couple more bass in the 12" range, and then around 2pm I hooked into a beast. We played tug o war for about 30 seconds before it pulled off just before coming into view. That one is gonna hurt for a while. Got one or two dinks after that and headed in at 4.
