8-28 upper potomac report

Allan and I put in at Lander on a raining Thursday morning. The weeds, rain and wind made for some tough boating. We had to stop and pull weeds out of the motor quite often. It was also tough to see the under water obstructions. My boat has some new battle scars for sure.

Allan an avid outdoorsman and steelhead fisherman caught his first smallmouth on a tube bait. He missed some strikes in the beginning but stuck with the bait and was rewarded with this nice 18.5” smallie.

I caught this greenie in the middle of the river, which was very strange.

The wind and the rain drove us off the water around noon. We only caught eight fish but the the ones we caught were good size.

Nice smallie! I suspect that the greenie didn't mind a mild current. Great report in tough conditions!

I saw a jet boat come out of the water yesterday at Algokian and it looked like a vine bush was growing out of the bottom of his jet. It was a mass of weeds. That cannot be good for the motor!
