Big Stony Creek 10/28

Got out to Big Stony creek for the first time in a while yesterday after classes and had a much better day than the first time. Didn't get anything big but got 5 little ones all caught on a nymph under an indicator.

I also caught this little guy. Not quite sure what it is. It may just be a young rainbow but it almost looks like some sort of hybrid.

The trout is a brown trout I think as well. I have seen naturally breeding browns with that purple hue in some feeder creeks of the Allegheny in PA.
They are beautiful BTW.

I looked it up and i think you might be right. It seems to be just a young brown that hasnt fully grown out of its younger colors.

That's a young brown! Big Stoney has naturally reproducing browns so you have a little SWVA treasure!
